Katie Lynn McDermott is an interdisciplinary artist who explores the connection between two and three dimensional objects. Her work is ancestral as each piece conceptually informs and physically creates the next. She explores ideas surrounding permanence and impermanence in life cycles and the artistic process. Katie builds up surface layers and textures, then later allows them to be disrupted by various erosive processes over extended periods of time. Her work serves as a form of ritual and meditation, exploring some of life's most unanswerable questions relating to life, death and the afterlife, or possibly lack thereof.
